The Kikuo Morimoto Collection
Cambodian Heritage
Exhibition Concept
This small museum presents antique Cambodian textiles and weaving tools collected and preserved by the founder, Kikuo Morimoto, since 1996. Located on the second floor of the IKTT shop, the exhibition is divided into three rooms, each organized around a different concept.
The collection includes over 200 pieces, among them rare textiles believed to be more than 100 years old. UNESCO survey reports from the 1990s and weaving tools adorned with Naga and Hamsa motifs offer insight into the refined aesthetics and craftsmanship of the time.
We hope this exhibition invites you to reflect on the beauty and skill of Cambodia’s past.
Roots
During the course of this research,
many of the elderly women whom I met
and was able to listen to
have already passed away.
Yet without their cooperation,
IKTT as it exists today
would not have been possible.
I wish to record this here.
Kikuo Morimoto(1948-2017)
